Ecstatic Dance Sydney Newtown | Friday Night Sober Dance Floor

Ecstatic Dance is a freestyle community dance floor at Temple On The Park where we gather every Friday night — no words, no booze, no phones — just dance deep. In this safe, inclusive and sacred space you can shake loose and let go to a live DJ and an amazing sound system. Expect a rich, guided ecstatic dance experience blending variety music, rhythmic bass, classic remixes and sound healing vibes at the very end for a full-spectrum soul journey.

What to expect 90 minute dance journey to connect with yourself through movement, guided by the inner wisdom of your body. The set is usually mixed live by an experienced Ecstatic Dance DJ. While styles and tracks change with each DJ, the journey is always the same: warmup, welcome, dance journey, cool down and closing circle.

Some dancers move a lot, some move less — follow your body. Communication is non-verbal: use eye contact and mutual consent if you want to dance with someone, and respect personal space. Be open to feelings and emotions that arise, notice how the beat moves through you, play, dance, whoop if you need — and honour the intention of no words and no phones inside the space.
