HOW WE ORDER RESULTS
Last updated 4 September 2026
This page explains the main parameters that order offers in Arivela's search, lists and topic
pages, why each one matters, and how much weight it carries relative to the others. It serves both
Art. 246d § 1 no. 1 EGBGB towards people searching and Art. 5 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1150
towards hosts.
Two things happen in sequence. Your filters — place or area, dates, time of day, category, price —
decide which offers are in the result at all. Everything described below only decides the order
within that set.
THE MAIN PARAMETERS, MOST IMPORTANT FIRST
- How the listing is written. This carries the most weight of the three. We look at whether the text actually says what happens, for whom it is, who is holding it, and whether it promises what it delivers. It weighs most because it is the one thing that tells you, before you book, what you would be walking into.
- How squarely the offer belongs on Arivela. The second-strongest parameter. Arivela exists for conscious events, retreats and trainings, and an offer near that centre is placed above one far from it — an ecstatic dance evening sits closer to what people come here for than a table tennis evening does. This is not a judgement about the offer's worth, and it is not a removal: an offer far from the centre stays listed, findable and bookable, it simply does not lead the list.
- The pictures. Present, but lighter than the two above. Each photo is checked for technical quality, for whether it really shows the experience, the place or the person, for whether it is safe on a public page, and for how likely it is to be AI-generated or synthetic.
- Confirmed links to a host and to a place. Two smaller, fixed additions on top of the three parameters above: one when a host profile has confirmed that it holds this offer, one when a place has confirmed that it hosts it. Only a confirmation from the other side counts — claiming a link is not enough. A confirmed link means someone real stands behind the listing.
A signal we do not have is left out rather than counted as a bad one: an offer whose pictures we
have not looked at yet is judged on the rest, not punished for our backlog. An offer we have not
assessed at all is placed after those we have, without being read as poor.
WHAT LOWERS A POSITION
- A long series of repeated dates. An offer entered with many recurring dates carries a deduction that grows in steps with the number of dates, up to a fixed limit — a little for a short course, clearly more for something running week after week without end. A weekly class is welcome; it just does not deserve as many places in a list as it has dates. A single date, and a retreat or training with no recurrence, take no deduction at all.
- A thin or misleading description. It lowers the parameter that weighs most. Below a certain point the offer is no longer merely placed low: it becomes unreachable for visitors — its page answers "not found" — and a ticket sale running through Arivela is paused, until the text is rewritten. The host receives a statement of reasons for it and can ask for a human review.
- Weak images — including AI-generated ones. Blurry, dark or tiny photos, photos that show something other than the offer, unsafe photos, and photos our check considers likely to be AI-generated or synthetic all lower the picture parameter. At a very high confidence such a photo also makes the offer unreachable for visitors and pauses a ticket sale running through Arivela until it is resolved; there too a statement of reasons is given and a human review can be asked for. We ask for real photographs of a real gathering because that is what someone deciding whether to come actually needs to see.
- Being very weakly assessed also costs a listing its place in our sitemap — we stop suggesting it to search engines. The page itself stays fully reachable, stays on every list, and may still be indexed.
WHAT RAISES IT
- A description that is clear, honest and specific about what the hours together hold.
- A host profile that has confirmed the offer, and a place that has confirmed it. An offer at a confirmed place is also given the edge when two results are otherwise equal.
- A genuine match to the words you searched for. Where a search term is present, how closely the title and the description match it decides the order among offers that are otherwise level, and the title counts for more than the description.
WHAT DOES NOT INFLUENCE PLACEMENT
Hosts cannot buy a better position. There is no paid promotion, no advertising slot and no
commission that changes the order. Whether an offer sells tickets through Arivela or links to an
external booking page is not a sorting criterion, and what an offer costs does not move it up or
down unless you sort by price yourself.
Distance does not move an offer either. Where you search decides which offers are in the result —
a search for a town or an area keeps the offers there and leaves the others out — but within that
result, a nearer offer is not placed above a further one.
WHICH PROVIDERS ARE INCLUDED IN A RESULT
A result is drawn from the offers published on Arivela itself, and from nothing else. We do not
read in listings from other platforms, we do not buy in inventory, and we do not compare Arivela's
offers against offers held elsewhere. Every published offer that matches your filters is eligible
for the result on the same terms, whoever is holding it (Art. 246d § 1 no. 2 EGBGB).
WHEN YOU CHOOSE THE ORDER YOURSELF
Everything above describes our standard order. When you pick a different sort, yours applies and
ours steps back: sorted by date, the soonest or the latest date leads; sorted by price, the price
does; sorted by newest, the most recently published offer does; sorted by best match, how closely
the text matches your search term does. Only the last few tie-breaks — a confirmed place, then the
soonest date, then the title — stay in place, so that equal results always come back in the same
order.
