OSHO International Meditation Resort Pune
About this place
The OSHO International Meditation Resort in Pune, India, is one of the world’s best-known and most extraordinary centers for personal development and meditation. Founded by the spiritual teacher and philosopher Osho (Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh), the resort—located in the luxurious Koregaon Park neighborhood—breaks with the traditional, ascetic notions of an Indian ashram. Instead, the 28-hectare complex, with its black marble structures, Zen gardens, and a spacious pool, resembles a high-end wellness retreat that combines spirituality with a zest for life.
What to Expect at the Resort
• The Daily Schedule & Meditation Practices: At the heart of the resort are the active meditation practices developed by Osho. These include the famous OSHO Dynamic Meditation at sunrise and the Kundalini Meditation in the afternoon. The emotional highlight is the daily Evening Meeting, where participants dance together, observe silence, and listen to talks by Osho. • Dress code: One of the strictest rules on site concerns clothing. During the day, all participants are required to wear burgundy robes, which symbolize the shared energy in the meditations. For the evening meeting, participants change into white robes. • Living and working: You can either stay directly at the on-site OSHO Guesthouse or participate in the popular “Work as Meditation” program. With the latter, you live at the resort for an extended period, work at least six hours a day within the community, and thus integrate mindfulness directly into your daily life.
Practical Information for Visitors
• Best time to visit: The peak season is during the Indian winter, from mid-November to mid-February, when the nights are pleasantly cool and the days are warm. • Arrival & Registration: Upon your first arrival at the Welcome Center, in addition to the formalities, a mandatory rapid HIV test is conducted for health and safety reasons. You’ll also need a gate pass (sticker), which is subject to a fee, to gain access. • Fees (approximate): The stay is more expensive compared to traditional ashrams. Day passes for international guests cost approximately 2,050 INR (approx. 23 €), while monthly passes cost around 36,900 INR (approx. 415 €). Added to this are the costs for purchasing the two mandatory robes (approx. 2,900 INR / 32 €) as well as for meals at the resort’s restaurants.

For example, if you plan to spend some time in Mumbai, you should consider malaria protection; most people staying in Pune simply rely on mosquito repellent.
