About this place
Osho Tapoban is an international meditation commune and a spiritual forest ashram nestled in the picturesque Nagarjun Hills on the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal. Founded by Swami Anand Arun—one of the first close disciples of the Indian mystic Osho—the center offers a peaceful, verdant retreat away from the bustling capital, blending spiritual practices with the pristine nature of the surrounding jungle.
Our Mission
"To create an environment where the contemporary man can unburden himself, discover his inner silence, and celebrate life in its totality — weaving meditation and love into the fabric of daily existence."
What to Expect
• Immersed in Nature: The ashram is situated within a protected forest zone (Green Belt), with a natural waterfall flowing directly through the grounds. • Active Meditations: The large meditation center hosts up to five sessions daily, including Osho’s renowned Dynamic Meditation (held in the morning), as well as Kundalini and Gourishankar meditations. • Facilities: The site includes guest accommodations, a spacious canteen serving a vegetarian buffet, and "Zorba the Buddha"—a cozy café. There is also a bookstore offering Osho’s complete works, along with traditional robes.
Getting There & Visiting
• Location: Approximately a 30 to 45-minute drive northwest of Kathmandu city center (near Balaju/Nagarjun). • Options: You can visit the location for a relaxing day trip (a 2–3 hour stay for hiking and meditation) or book an all-inclusive, multi-day wellness and yoga retreat that includes accommodation.
Who is Osho?
A contemporary mystic who taught the world that meditation is not an act, but the natural state of being.
Osho Osho (1931–1990) is a contemporary enlightened master whose vision has touched the lives of millions of seekers around the world. A rare combination of the wisdom of Buddha, the joy of Krishna and the rebellion of Jesus.
He delivered over 7,000 hours of recorded discourses on subjects ranging from the sayings of Lao Tzu to the songs of Kabir, from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali to the parables of the Sufi mystics — all pointing again and again to one single truth: that meditation is the only revolution.
