Sobre esta formación
Samasti Yoga runs a 28 day residential 200 hour yoga teacher training in Canggu, Bali, registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYS 200. The training was founded in 2016 by Sean Goldberg, a physiotherapist and a recognised teacher within a living tantra lineage, and more than 500 students have graduated from it since then.
What makes this training different
The anatomy is taught by a registered physiotherapist. You learn how the body actually moves, where injuries come from and how to adapt yoga to injuries and limitations, and you learn it on your own body rather than from a book.
The training runs to 260 contact hours over 28 days, where the industry minimum is 180 hours over 21 days. Those extra days go into practice, philosophy, anatomy and real teaching. Before you graduate you plan and teach two complete 60 minute classes, with feedback from senior teachers and from your peers.
Groups are capped at 20, so your teachers know your body, your history and your challenges by the end of the first week.
The traditional practices come through an unbroken teacher to student line. Sean still returns to his teacher's ashram in India each year, and what he shares at Samasti was passed to him directly.
What you learn
Asana, pranayama, meditation, bandha and mudra, anatomy, asana labs, teaching methodology and philosophy are taught as parts of one practice rather than as separate subjects. Traditional Hatha is the foundation, with Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative and Tantra woven through the month. The daily 30 minute meditation draws on Buddhism, Tantra, Advaita Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism. Philosophy covers the Yoga Sutras, the paths of yoga, ethics, Ayurveda, subtle anatomy, Yoga Nidra, Sanskrit and mantra.
The teaching methodology is trauma informed in a specific sense. You learn to lead clearly, to direct where a student's attention should go in the body to keep them safe, to build a real alternative into a pose before anybody needs it, and never to touch anybody without them knowing it is coming.
Where you live
The villa sits within a private estate in Canggu, with an open air living area, gardens, a large pool, air conditioned rooms with private ensuites and two shalas with garden views. The residential packages include your room for the full month and two organic vegetarian meals a day, prepared in house by our chefs, who cook for vegan, gluten free and coeliac needs.
After the training
Every graduate is invited into the 40 day sadhana, a guided home practice with a daily prompt, a practice sequence and check ins with your cohort, built to carry what you learned in Bali into ordinary life. You also join the Samasti alumni community, where teachers share classes, swap job leads and stay in touch with the people they trained beside.
Investment and how to apply
The course on its own is 2,690 USD. With a shared room and meals it is 3,790 USD, and with a private room and meals it is 4,590 USD. Book a room package three or more months before the start and the price drops by 300 USD. A deposit of 500 USD confirms your place, and payment plans are available.
Places are by application. Send your application through the Samasti website, and Sean will arrange a personal conversation with you before a place is confirmed.

Yes, and we mean something specific by it rather than using it as a label. The teacher leads clearly, directs where your attention should go to keep you safe, never tells you what you ought to be feeling, and never touches anybody without them knowing it is coming. This is a teaching standard and not a clinical qualification. Sean has written about what trauma informed actually means in a yoga training if you want the longer answer.
No. Many students join purely to deepen their own practice. Every graduate leaves certified either way.
