Marilein Movement

Hi! I am Margherita (or Mari or Marghe :)); I go by the pronouns she/her. I am originally from Italy but have been living in Berlin for 11 years.

I am a nonprofit development consultant and democracy activist by career, and a somatic dancer facilitator by passion!

I come from a family of musicians. My mom is a pianist and a choir teacher, and my dad is an electronic music player. My grandparents have always engaged with music, either by singing or playing or dancing at local events. I have been learning piano for 8 years and joined multiple dance classes until I was 16. After that, I focused my career on literature, culture and gender studies. But I never stopped loving music and dance.

Since 2011, I have fallen in love with house and techno music and became a lover of Berlin’s dancefloors. I have been a music journalist for a couple of years, interviewing prominent Berlin djs like the Watergate resident LaFleur. After that, I have developed my own taste for music and clubs, spotting emerging djs in the Berlin and Ibiza scene that I saw becoming top lineup djs over time :)

Today, I am choosing to return to dance and music by training as a somatic dancer facilitator and DJ myself. I believe music and movement can do magic for our bodies and become pathways for liberation, self-love, agency and wellbeing.
